We welcome Joglaresa to a Festival
highlight – our annual excursion to the beautiful
fourteenth-century ‘Cathedral of the Peak’.
Outside the restraints of religious rites, musicians and
poets through the ages have created euphoric music
celebrating their faiths. It is the thirteenth century.
Christian pilgrims at Montserrat sing and dance so
ecstatically that they have to celebrate outside the church!
Music is forbidden in Mosques, yet mystic Sufi brotherhoods
gather privately to sing of their religious intoxication.
Having already observed their formal religious rites in the
Synagogue, Jews return home to sing hymns informally and
joyously.
The brilliant musicians of Joglaresa, with infectious
enthusiasm and peerless skill, will have you dancing and
singing all the way home!

and the Middle East The Guardian
Irresistibly catchy tunes… Joglaresa's imaginative use
of improvisation creates an exciting air of authenticity…
compulsive rhythmic energy with luxuriantly ornamental solos
