Annette Saunders studied at the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music as a pianist and accompanist. She won many prizes for both and was recently awarded an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. Since 1996 she has worked for Opera North, English National Opera, Glyndebourne, Garsington Opera, RCM, RAM, the Britten-Pears School at Aldeburgh, and the Jette Parker Young Artists at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. She has recently joined the permanent music staff at Opera North and is currently acting as Assistant Head of Music.
This is her sixteenth Buxton Festival and her sixth year as Head of Music.
She has 25 years’ experience as a chamber musician working with singers and instrumentalists across the UK, the USA and Europe including several live broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM.
She has taken part in numerous education projects for all ages with Glyndebourne, Opera North, the Barbican Centre, and ENO as well as coaching choirs and instrumentalists at the Zimbabwe Academy of Music in Bulawayo.
