Mezzo soprano Imogen Garner lives in Chester. She read Economics at Sheffield University and, following a year’s teacher training, studied at the RNCM.
Imogen is currently covering Paulina in The Winter’s Tale at ENO. Last year she covered Lulu’s mother in Berg’s Lulu at ENO and sang Marnie’s mother in a workshop of a new composition at ENO. This Summer she is pleased to be returning to the Buxton Festival for her fourth year, previously she has performed roles in Charpentier’s Louise, covered Irene in Tamerlano, Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor and the title role in Orfeo. Imogen has sung in the Extra Chorus at ENO in The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk and in The Mastersingers of Nuremberg, she has covered two roles in Martinu’s Julietta and was selected to sing excerpts of the lead role in a new opera written by James Ellis and Louis de Bernières at the Hay Festival. Imogen graduated from ENO Opera works in 2012. She has sung in the Chorus at Scottish Opera on a number of occasions.
Imogen performs regularly for Heritage Opera and is currently singing 3rd Lady in their production of The Magic Flute. Other roles she has sung for them include Marcellina, Annina, Giovanna and Kate Pinkerton. In 2014 Imogen toured with Swansea City Opera and Young Opera Venture singing Marcellina in Figaro. She has also performed Lucia in Cavalleria rusticana with Opera Seria, Mrs Grose in The Turn of the Screw for Steel Opera and Mary in The Flying Dutchman for Focus Opera. Imogen appears regularly on the concert platform and is a keen recitalist.
