Russell Craig initially trained and worked in New Zealand.
British theatre companies he has designed musicals and plays for include the Royal Shakespeare Company, Manchester Royal Exchange, Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, Chichester Festival Theatre, The Unicorn and many touring and regional companies throughout the UK.
He has designed numerous opera productions for Scottish Opera, Opera North, Welsh National Opera, English National Opera, Glyndebourne, Wexford Festival and companies throughout Europe and the USA.
Earlier designs for Verdi include La traviata for Scottish Opera, Oberto for Opera North and Falstaff for Virginia Opera.
Previous productions for the Buxton Festival are Il Turco in Italia 2004, The Maiden in the Tower and Kashchei the Immortal 2012 and Giovanna d’Arco in 2016
Currently he designs the sets for the annual pantomime at the Theatre Chipping Norton. This year, Sleeping Beauty.
