Annette Saunders won many prizes while studying at the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music as a pianist and accompanist, and has recently been made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. Since 1996 she has worked for Opera North, English National Opera, Glyndebourne, Garsington Opera, the Britten-Pears School, RCM, RAM and the Jette Parker Young Artists at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
She has over 20 years’ experience as a chamber musician working with singers and instrumentalists across the UK, the USA and Europe and has appeared in several live broadcasts for Radio 3 and Classic FM.
Education work is very important to Annette. She spent five years with the Baylis Programme at ENO and has taken part in projects for Glyndebourne, Opera North, and the Barbican Centre. In 2012 she went to Zimbabwe for two months coaching local and school choirs in Bulawayo.
This is Annette’s fifteenth year at Buxton Festival and her fourth as Head of Music.
