Winner of a First Prize at the 2014 Seattle Opera International Wagner Competition, David Danholt was born in Funen. He trained at the Royal Academy of the Royal Theatre, Copenhagen, and then at the Royal Academy of Music, Copenhagen. Companies with whom he has worked include the Royal Danish Opera, Den Fynske Opera, Den Jyske Opera, Oper Leipzig and the Staatstheater Mainz. He made his UK debut in the title role of Idomeneo with Grange Park Opera and sang Arindal Die Feen for Chelsea Opera Group.
Conductors with whom he has worked in opera and concert include Nicholas Braithwaite, Nicholas Kraemer, Sebastian Lang-Lessing, Joseph Rescigno, Tobias Ringborg, Carlo Rizzi, Michael Schönwandt, Stefan Solyom, Constantin Trinks, Jin Wang, Hilary Davan Wetton and Dominic Wheeler.
David Danholt made his BBC Proms debut in Summer 2015 singing Nielsen’s Hymnus Amoris. Current engagements include Tobias Tobias and the Angel (Munich Radio Orchestra), Baron Lummer Intermezzo (Radio Filharmonisch Orkest at The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam), Erik Der fliegende Holländer (Florentine Opera Company and Seattle Opera), Walter The Passenger (Florida Grand Opera and Michigan Opera Theatre), Rued Langgard’s Antichrist at Ribe Cathedral and Beethoven Symphony No 9 on tour with the Philharmonie Zuidnederland.
This is his Buxton Festival debut.
