Harry Fehr


Harry Fehr studied philosophy at the University of Nottingham and was a member of the Royal Opera’s Young Artists Programme.

He has directed Orlando (Welsh National Opera/Scottish Opera – nominated for a Wales Theatre Award), the world premiere of Craig Armstrong’s The Lady from the Sea (Edinburgh International Festival/Scottish Opera – winner of a Herald Angel Award), Ariodante, Der fliegende Holländer, Il matrimonio segreto and La cenerentola (Scottish Opera), La finta giardiniera (Buxton Festival – nominated for a Manchester Theatre Award), Così fan tutte (Opera Holland Park; Clonter Opera – nominated for a Manchester Theatre Award; Diva Opera), La clemenza di Tito (Teatru Manoel, Valletta), Die schöne Müllerin, La serva padrona and Stephen McNeff’s Gentle Giant (Linbury Studio Theatre), Henry Fielding’s The Lottery (Bury Court Opera/L’Avventura), Oberon and Mignon (New Sussex Opera), and Noye’s Fludde, Le comte Ory, Cendrillon, Eugene Onegin and L’elisir d’amore (Blackheath Halls Community Opera).

Harry works frequently with students and has directed conservatoire productions of Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor (GSMD), The Cunning Little Vixen and Le nozze di Figaro (RWCMD), and Rinaldo (Trinity Laban), as well as several programmes of scenes (GSMD, RCS and the Opera Academy, Copenhagen).

Plans include Falstaff for the Shanghai Opera House.
