Mezzo soprano Imogen Garner lives in Cheshire. She read Economics at Sheffield University and following a year’s teacher training, studied at the RNCM between 1998-2001.
Imogen is pleased to return to the Festival for her third year after covering the roles of Orfeo and Alisa in previous visits and singing a number of small roles in Charpentier’s Louise. Imogen has sung in the Extra Chorus at ENO in The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk and The Mastersingers of Nuremberg, she has also covered 2 roles in Martinu’s Julietta and was selected to sing excerpts of the lead role in a new opera written by James Ellis and Louis de Bernières at the Hay Festival. Imogen graduated from ENO Opera Works in 2012. She has also sung in the Chorus at Scottish Opera on a number of occasions.
She has recently sung the role of Annina in La traviata for Heritage Opera with whom she has also sung Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro and Kate Pinkerton in Madam Butterfly. In 2014 Imogen toured with Swansea City Opera and Young Opera Venture performing Marcellina in Figaro. She also sang Lucia in Cavalleria rusticana for Opera Seria. Other roles include Mrs Grose in The Turn of the Screw with Steel Opera and Martha in Der fliegende Hollander for Focus Opera.
Imogen appears regularly on the concert platform and is a keen recitalist.
