Welsh soprano, Llio Evans, trained at the Wales International Academy of Voice and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with Dennis O’Neill, Suzanne Murphy and Michael Pollock.
A recipient of many awards, including the Leonard Ingrams Foundation Award at Garsington Opera, Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize, Dame Anne Evans Award, Russell Sheppard Award and the Welsh Association of Male Choirs Music Award.
Operatic roles include Despina (cover), Mimi (cover) [Vert-Vert] at Garsington Opera; Blonde for Pop-Up Opera; Yum-Yum, Gretel for Co-Opera Co.; and Susanna, Pamina for Opera’r Ddraig. Llio can be heard singing the role of Barbe on Chandos’ studio recording of Arthur Sullivan’s The Beauty Stone, with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Rory Macdonald.
Recent concert performances include Elijah at St John’s Smith Square with the Three Choirs Festival and the Philharmonia Orchestra, Bach’s Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht (Coffee Cantata) with Ensemble Cymru, and Arwel Hughes’ Gweddi with the BBC National Orchestra for BBC Radio 3.
Future engagements include Iris Semele (Garsington Opera).
