Born in South Korea, pianist Soojeong Joo equally feels home in both art songs and operatic repertoire. Trained at Manhattan School of Music in New York City and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, she recently finished her second season at Scottish Opera as a repetiteur in the productions of La Cenerentola, Inés de Castro, Orfeo ed Euridice, Il trovatore, Carmen, The Devil Inside (world premiere), Rusalka and The Mikado. Soojeong has also worked at English National Opera on Fidelio, The Magic Flute, Madame Butterfly and Satyagraha. Other productions include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (GSMD), Our Town (GSMD/ European premiere), Owen Wingrave (GSMD, The Banff Centre/ Canadian premiere), The Bartered Bride and A Night at the Chinese Opera (British Youth Opera), L’elisir d’amore and La bohème (Edinburgh Grand Opera). She also has worked as coaching staff at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Clonter Opera Workshop. She has performed at numerous concert venues including the Barbican Hall (London), Holywell Music Room (Oxford), Yamaha Artist Services (NYC).
