Buxton is easy to reach by road, rail or air.

Buxton is approximately an hour’s drive from the M1, M6, Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham and Derby.

NB from 14 to 25 July from 1900 to 2200, the A6 Buxton Road will be closed at Barmoor Clough from its junction with the A623 to its junction with the B5470. To facilitate embankment stabilisation works. Diversion: A6 to Buxton – A53 – A5004 Buxton To Whaley Bridge – A6 (to Point Of Closure) & Vice Versa. For a map containing details, click here.
There are 1001 car park spaces in Buxton including:
Buxton Opera House: Pay and display parking for 50 cars, including 2 spaces for the disabled
Pavilion Gardens: Parking for 262 cars including 15 spaces for the disabled
Palace Hotel: For non-residents: £4.50 for 3 hours and then £1 per hour. £7.50 spent on refreshments gives 3 hours free parking.
Please allow extra time if travelling by car on Carnival Day (12 July).
Regular inter-city trains from Euston to Macclesfield, Stockport and Manchester with connecting services to Buxton (journey time approx. three hours). The last train from Buxton to Manchester leaves at 10.56 pm (10.27 pm on Sundays).
