BUXTON FESTIVAL DOUBLE BILL NOMINATED FOR MANCHESTER THEATRE AWARDS

The acclaimed Buxton Festival Double Bill performed in July 2012 has been shortlisted in the Best Opera category in the Manchester Theatre Awards. The awards, the largest of their kind outside London, recognise the work of the most talented performers in British and international theatre.
The panel of nine independent theatre critics, attend scores of productions throughout the region each year and this time have shortlisted 19 categories, ranging across drama, opera, musical theatre and dance.
The Festival Double Bill of Sibelius’s The Maiden in the Tower and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Kashchei The Immortal, was praised by the award panel and national critics for its imaginative production and inventive design.

The 2013 Buxton Festival runs from Friday 5 to Sunday 21 July and features a broad range of opera, music and literary talks. This year’s operas include Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera and a Festival Double Bill of Gounod’s La Colombe and Saint-Saëns’ La Princesse Jaune.
