I find the pre-opera talks make the performance much more enjoyable when they cover the question "why did you decide to produce it like this". The best last year was for Roberto Devereux where an understanding of the closed-in set with reflective walls made so much sense when it was explained. It greatly increased my enjoyment. The educational talks like King Arthur or Marriage of Figaro contain much info that I knew already and did not add much to the appreciation of the opera. Please try to devote a few minutes to explain the period setting, costume, scenary, casting, musical style etc. you have chosen.
